- 2–5 working days, door to door. Engines and gearboxes go on a pallet, heads and rims by courier.

- 5–10 working days to Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Eswatini and Lesotho. Import duties for the buyer’s account.
- Collection
- Free from the yard in East London by arrangement. Bring the old unit and we’ll compare them on the spot.

- Ancillaries, sensors, injectors and turbos, and any unit not fitted by a qualified workshop with an invoice to prove it.
Torque Yard sells tested used engines and gearboxes from a yard in East London, and ships them anywhere in South Africa in two to five working days. Every unit on the shelf was run and checked before it was listed — that is the whole business, and it is why we are not the cheapest listing you will find.
Straight answers about used engines and gearboxes
Can you confirm a part fits before I pay?
Yes, and it costs nothing. Send your VIN, the code off the old unit and a photograph on WhatsApp. We come back the same working day, and if it is not a match we say so and do not sell it to you.
Are the used engines and gearboxes guaranteed?
Three months from the invoice date on used engines, gearboxes and cylinder heads. Twelve months on new factory-sealed units. Cover is for internal mechanical failure, and the unit has to go in at a qualified workshop — an RMI-accredited workshop gives you the invoice we ask for on a claim.
Do you publish mileage?
No. Nobody can verify an odometer reading on a stripped or imported unit, so we leave the number off rather than print something we cannot stand behind. You get a tested unit with a written warranty instead.
Do you deliver outside the Eastern Cape?
Two to five working days door to door anywhere in South Africa, and five to ten working days to Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Eswatini and Lesotho. Orders over R25,000 ship free inside the country.
What do used engines and gearboxes cost here?
Everything is 20% off at the moment and the discount is already in the price you see. On current pricing, small hatchback engines start under R12,000, most mid-size units run R12,000 to R24,000, and bakkie and SUV engines sit between R24,000 and R40,000. Every price includes 15% VAT.
Which makes do you carry?
Ten makes and 139 models: Toyota, Ford, Isuzu, Nissan, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Mazda, VW, BMW and Mercedes. Bakkie and taxi units carry most of the turnover, with hatchback, sedan and German stock behind them.
How do I pay, and can I hold a unit?
EFT or card, with a full VAT invoice on every sale. A 50% deposit reserves a unit and fixes the price while your workshop books you in, with the balance due before it ships or before you collect.
Do you fit the parts?
Not in-house. We work with partner workshops and can quote fitment alongside the part, or you can use your own. Either way, keep the fitment invoice — it is what the warranty runs on.
Where are you and can I collect?
27 Pearce Street, on the corner of Tecoma Street, Berea, East London. Collection is free by arrangement — ring first so the unit is off the shelf and on the counter when you arrive. Bring the old part and we will compare the two there and then.
A small yard, on purpose
We buy low-damage running vehicles — insurance write-offs, hail cars, rear-enders — and strip the parts that still work. Nothing goes on the shelf that did not drive onto the truck under its own power.
The yard is small enough that the person who tested your engine is the person who answers your message, and big enough to keep 475 tested units on the shelf.
